I am working on an article for Firehouse Magazine that discusses how email has become the person we rarely see or talk with...the guy or gal in the top positions who finds electronic messages more valuable than a phone call or a face-to-face exchange. I am seeking fire departments, and specific contacts, who would be willing to talk about how their department either over-uses email as a management tool, or puts this communication device in proper perspective. (I know how ironic this topic request is as I compose this email). However, email as a surrogate manager seems to have many negative consequences in today's organizational culture, including some fire departments.
Please email me with your name, the department, and a contact name and phone number to whom I might speak. My email is: firstname.lastname@example.org. Please do not include specious contacts, i.e., someone who is unaware of the nature of my request.
Thanks for your help,
Please let me know if i should re-submit, or if the subject matter is off-target. And obviously, please advise if you know of someone in the fire service I might talk with regarding this article.
The United States Fire Administration recommends everyone should have a comprehensive fire protection plan that includes smoke alarms, residential sprinklers, and practicing a home fire escape plan.
