The Nation's news media is reporting the following residential fire (non-arson) fatalities:
- 3 dead – Occurred Monday, 6/1 – Hesperia, CA (Los Angeles, CA): A 34-year-old man and his two sons, ages nine and four-years-old, were killed in a home fire. The cause of the fire is under investigation. There were no smoke alarms in the home.
- 2 dead – Occurred Saturday, 5/30 – Henry, IL (Peoria-Bloomington, IL): Two girls, ages four and six-years-old, were killed in a home fire. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
- 2 dead – Occurred Friday, 5/29 – Rialto, CA (Los Angeles, CA): Two boys, ages four and five-years-old, were killed in a home fire. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
- 1 dead – Occurred Sunday, 5/31 – Lealman, FL (Tampa-St. Petersburg, FL): A 56-year-old woman was killed in a mobile home fire. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
- 1 dead – Occurred Sunday, 5/31 – Flint, MI: A 48-year-old woman was killed in a home fire. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
- 1 dead – Occurred Sunday, 5/31 –Harrisburg, TX (Houston, TX): A woman was killed in a mobile home fire. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
- 1 dead – Occurred Saturday, 5/30 – St. Petersburg, FL: A woman was killed in a home fire. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
The United States Fire Administration recommends everyone should have a comprehensive fire protection plan that includes smoke alarms, residential sprinklers, and practicing a home fire escape plan.
