The Nation's news media is reporting the following residential fire (non-arson) fatalities:
- 2 dead – Occurred Tuesday, 1/27 – Grand Island, NE (Lincoln, NE): Two people were killed in a mobile home fire. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
- 2 dead – Occurred Sunday, 1/25 – Burnsville, MN (Minneapolis – St. Paul, MN): Two people were killed in an apartment fire. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
- 1 dead – Occurred Tuesday, 1/27 – Fort Loudon, PA (Washington, DC): A one-year-old girl was killed in an apartment fire. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
- 1 dead – Occurred Tuesday, 1/27 – Letcher County, KY (Tri-Cities, TN): A 35-year-old woman was killed in a mobile home fire. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
- 1 dead – Occurred Tuesday, 1/27 – Westbury, NY (New York, NY): A man in his 60s was killed in a home fire. Fire officials believe a candle caused the fire.
- 1 dead – Occurred Tuesday, 1/27 – Union City, NJ (New York, NY): One man was killed in an apartment fire. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
- 1 dead – Occurred Tuesday, 1/27 – Parkville, MD (Baltimore, MD): A 97-year-old woman was killed in a home fire. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
- 1 dead – Occurred Tuesday, 1/27 – Las Vegas, NV: A 58-year-old woman was killed in a mobile home fire. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
- 1 dead – Occurred Tuesday, 1/27 – Bloomfield, MO (Paducah, KY - Cape Girardeau, MO - Harrisburg, IL): A 78-year-old man was killed in a mobile home fire. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
- 1 dead – Occurred Monday, 1/26 – Ruston, LA (Monroe, LA - El Dorado, AR): A two-year-old girl was killed in a home fire. The cause of the fire is under investigation. The home had no working smoke alarms.
- 1 dead – Occurred Monday, 1/26 – Orangeburg, SC (Columbia, SC): A man was killed in a home fire. Fire officials believe a kerosene heater placed too close to a sofa caused the fire.
- 1 dead – Occurred Friday, 1/23 – Orangeburg, SC (Columbia, SC): A 62-year-old man was killed in a home fire. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
- 1 dead – Occurred Monday, 1/19 – Braggs, AZ (Phoenix, AZ): A 71-year-old woman was killed in a home fire. Fire officials believe faulty wiring caused the fire.

The United States Fire Administration recommends everyone should have a comprehensive fire protection plan that includes smoke alarms, residential sprinklers, and practicing a home fire escape plan.
