The Nation's news media is reporting the following residential fire (non-arson) fatalities:

Monday, March 15

  • 2 dead – Occurred Monday, 3/15 –  Springfield, MO:  Two children, ages seven and four-years-old were killed in a home fire.  The cause of the fire is under investigation.  The home had smoke alarms, but the family said they never heard the alarms sound.
  • 2 dead – Occurred Saturday, 3/13 – Fort Lee, NJ (New York, NY):  Two men, ages 55 and 52-years-old were killed in a home fire.  The cause of the fire is under investigation. 
  • 2 dead – Occurred Saturday, 3/13 – Vincennes, IN (Terre Haute, IN):  A 47-year-old man and a 46-year-old woman were killed in a home fire.  The cause of the fire is under investigation. 
  • 1 dead – Occurred Monday, 3/15 – Houston, TX:  A  woman was killed in a home fire.  The cause of the fire is under investigation.
  • 1 dead – Occurred Monday, 3/15 – Ankeny, IA (Des Moines, IA):  An elderly woman was killed in a manufactured home fire.  The cause of the fire is under investigation. 
  • 1 dead – Occurred Monday, 3/15 – East Memphis, TN (Memphis, TN):  A 61-year-old man was killed in an apartment fire.  The cause of the fire is under investigation. 
  • 1 dead – Occurred Monday, 3/15 – Morris Heights, NY (New York, NY):  A 39-year-old man was killed in an apartment fire.  The cause of the fire is under investigation. 
  • 1 dead – Occurred Monday, 3/15 – Kansas City, MO:  A 10-month-old girl was killed in a home fire.  The cause of the fire is under investigation. 
  • 1 dead – Occurred Monday, 3/15 – Bonsall, CA (San Diego, CA):  A person was killed in a manufactured home fire.  The cause of the fire is under investigation. 
  • 1 dead – Occurred Sunday, 3/14 – Kingston, RI (Providence, RI – New Bedford, MA):  A 71-year-old man was killed in an apartment fire.  The cause of the fire is under investigation.
  • 1 dead – Occurred Sunday, 3/14 – Dixon, IL (Rockford, IL):  A person was killed in a home fire.  The cause of the fire is under investigation.
  • 1 dead – Occurred Sunday, 3/14 – Gulfport, MS:  A 53-year-old man was killed in a home fire.  The cause of the fire is under investigation. 
  • 1 dead – Occurred Saturday, 3/13 – Columbiana County, OH (Youngstown, OH):  A 17-year-old boy was killed in a home fire.  The cause of the fire is under investigation. 
  • 1 dead – Occurred Saturday, 3/13 – Belmont County, OH (Wheeling, WV – Steubenville, OH):  A 40-year-old man was killed in a home fire.  The cause of the fire is under investigation. 
  • 1 dead – Occurred Friday, 3/12 – Jeffersonville, KY (Lexington, KY):  An 82-year-old man was killed in a home fire.  The cause of fire is under investigation. 
  • 1 dead – Occurred Friday, 3/12 – Cisco, UT (Salt Lake City, UT):  A person was killed in a manufactured home fire.  The cause of the fire is under investigation.

The United States Fire Administration recommends everyone should have a comprehensive fire protection plan that includes smoke alarms, residential sprinklers, and practicing a home fire escape plan.
