Incident Description: Fire Chief Rowe suffered a heart attack and died while en route to a rescue call involving a fatal snowmobile accident. The West Forks Fire and Rescue emergency medical personnel who had been at the snowmobile accident came to Rowe’s aid and performed lifesaving measures, but Rowe succumbed to his injury.
Incident Location: Interconnecting Snowmobile Trail 87 near Moxie Pond.

To date, 12 firefighter fatalities have been reported to USFA in 2010; 11 from incidents that occurred in 2010 and 1 from a previous year incident. The United States Fire Administration recommends everyone should have a comprehensive fire protection plan that includes smoke alarms, residential sprinklers, and practicing a home fire escape plan.
