The Nation's news media is reporting the following residential fire (non-arson) fatalities:
Thursday, March 4
- 3 dead – Occurred Thursday, 3/4 – Baltimore, MD: Three people were killed in a home fire. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
- 2 dead – Occurred Wednesday, 3/3 – Holmdel, NJ (New York, NY): A man and women were killed in a home fire. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
- 1 dead – Occurred Thursday, 3/4 – Pearland, TX (Houston, TX): A person was killed in a home fire. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
- 1 dead – Occurred Wednesday, 3/3 – Wellsburg, WV (Wheeling, WV – Steubenville, OH): A 40-year-old man was killed in a home fire. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
- 1 dead – Occurred Wednesday, 3/3 – St. George, UT (Salt Lake City, UT): A 55-year-old man was killed in a home fire. The fire was caused by careless smoking.
- 1 dead – Occurred Wednesday, 3/3 – Muskogee, OK (Tulsa, OK): A 67-year-old woman was killed in a home fire. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
- 1 dead – Occurred Wednesday, 3/3 – Hemet, CA (Palm Springs, CA): A person was killed in a home fire. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
- 1 dead – Occurred Friday, 2/26 – Hyattsville, MD (Washington, DC): On Wednesday, 3/3, a 39-year-old man succumbed to injuries sustained in a home fire that occurred on Friday, 2/26. The fire was caused by an overloaded extension cord powering a space heater.
Wednesday, March 3
- 3 dead – Occurred Tuesday, 3/2 – Detroit, MI: Three children, ages three, four, and five-years-old were killed in a home fire. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
- 1 dead – Occurred Wednesday, 3/3 – Citrus Heights, CA (Sacramento, CA): A disabled 63-year-old man was killed in a manufactured home fire. Officials said the man had a history of smoking in bed. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
- 1 dead – Occurred Wednesday, 3/3 – Oahu, HA (Honolulu, HA): An 89-year-old woman was killed in a home fire. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
- 1 dead – Occurred Wednesday, 3/3 – Rockford, IL: A 59-year-old woman was killed in a home fire. The cause is under investigation.
- 1 dead – Occurred Tuesday, 3/2 – Girard, MT (Fargo, ND): A person was killed in a home fire. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
- 1 dead – Occurred Tuesday, 3/2 – Warren, OH (Youngstown, OH): A four-year-old boy was killed in a home fire. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
- 1 dead – Occurred Tuesday, 3/2 – Little Canada, MN (Minneapolis – St. Paul, MN): An 88-year-old woman was killed in a condominium fire. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
Tuesday, March 2
- 2 dead – Occurred Monday, 3/1 – Chattanooga, TN: Two children, a seven-month-old girl and a three-year-old boy were killed in a home fire. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
- 1 dead – Occurred Tuesday, 3/2 – Detroit, MI: A 67-year-old man was killed in a home fire. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
- 1 dead – Occurred Tuesday, 3/2 – White Oak, PA (Pittsburg, PA): A person was killed in a home fire. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
- 1 dead – Occurred Tuesday, 3/2 – Lawrence County, OH (Charleston – Huntington, WV): An 80-year-old man was killed in a home fire. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
- 1 dead – Occurred Monday, 3/1 – Fayette Township, OH (Toledo, OH): An 80-year-old man was killed in a home fire. The cause of the fire is under investigation. No working smoke alarms were found in the home.
- 1 dead – Occurred Sunday, 2/28 – Cedar Lake Township, MN (Minneapolis – St. Paul, MN): A 52-year-old woman was killed in a home fire. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
- 1 dead – Occurred Sunday, 2/28 – Fullerton, CA (Los Angeles, CA): A 74-year-old woman was killed in a home fire. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

The United States Fire Administration recommends everyone should have a comprehensive fire protection plan that includes smoke alarms, residential sprinklers, and practicing a home fire escape plan.
