The Nation's news media is reporting the following residential fire (non-arson) fatalities:
- 2 dead – Occurred Monday, 3/16 – Baltimore, MD: Two adults were killed in a home fire. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
- 2 dead – Occurred Monday, 3/16 – Baldwin, PA (Pittsburg, PA): Two men were killed in a home fire. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
- 1 dead – Occurred Monday, 3/16 – Cranston, RI (Providence, RI): A boy was killed in an apartment fire. The smoke alarms in the apartment complex were wired to the fire department, but there were no sprinklers in the building.
The United States Fire Administration recommends everyone should have a comprehensive fire protection plan that includes smoke alarms, residential sprinklers, and practicing a home fire escape plan.
