The Nation's news media is reporting the following residential fire (non-arson) fatalities:
- 3 dead – Occurred Wednesday, 3/25 – Quincy, MA (Boston, MA): A man and two children, ages one and two-months-old were killed in an apartment fire. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
- 2 dead – Occurred Tuesday, 3/24 – Jackson, KY (Lexington, KY): A 43-year-old man and a three-year-old boy were killed in a mobile home fire. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
- 1 dead – Occurred Tuesday, 3/24 – Gary, IN (Chicago, IL): A 15-month-old boy was killed in a home fire. A halogen lamped left on in a bedroom caused the fire.
- 1 dead – Occurred Monday, 3/23 – Eureka, CA: A 33-year-old man was killed in a home fire. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
The United States Fire Administration recommends everyone should have a comprehensive fire protection plan that includes smoke alarms, residential sprinklers, and practicing a home fire escape plan.
