The Nation's news media is reporting the following residential fire (non-arson) fatalities:
- 4 dead – Occurred Saturday, 3/21 – St. Paris, OH (Dayton, OH): Two ten-year-old girls and two boys, ages eight and two were killed in a mobile home fire. The cause of the fire is under investigation. The home had no working smoke alarms.
- 2 dead – Occurred Saturday, 3/21 – Perry, LA (Lafayette, LA): Two brothers, ages 84 and 81 were killed in a home fire. The cause of the fire is under investigation. The home had no working smoke alarms.
- 2 dead – Occurred Thursday, 3/19 – Randolph Township, OH (Cleveland, OH): A 30-year-old woman and a 37-year-old man were killed in a home fire. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
- 1 dead – Occurred Sunday, 3/22 – New Dorp, NY (New York, NY): A 90-year-old woman was killed in a home fire. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
- 1 dead – Occurred Sunday, 3/22 – Fayetteville, NC (Raleigh – Durham, NC): A two-year-old girl was killed in an apartment fire. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
- 1 dead – Occurred Saturday, 3/21 – Belgrade, MN (Minneapolis – St. Paul, MN): A 64-year-old woman was killed in a home fire. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
- 1 dead – Occurred Friday, 3/20 – Copiah County, MS (Jackson, MS): An eight-year-old boy was killed in a home fire. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
The United States Fire Administration recommends everyone should have a comprehensive fire protection plan that includes smoke alarms, residential sprinklers, and practicing a home fire escape plan.
