A visit to Peshtigo, Wisconsin the site of a horrific forest fire in 1871. Over 800 of its residents were killed. The fire happened on the day of the Chicago fire so it does not have a monumental place in history and is somewhat overlooked. Make no mistake, this was a major event in early American pioneer history. To the victims, rest in peace.
