PROHIBITED STORAGE DISTRICTS

There may be occasions where a community wants to prohibit the storage of certain hazardous materials within specific parts of the jurisdiction.  The International Fire Code provides a tool to do just that.

Today’s Coffee Break Training, “Prohibited Storage Districts,” describes how the International Fire Code can regulate hazardous materials by zoning.

Your Coffee Break can be downloaded from http://www.usfa.dhs.gov/downloads/pdf/coffee-break/cb_fp_2009_6.pdf

Always refer to nationally recognized design and installation standards, the product manufacturer or listing details for specific information.

As one of our sharp-eyed readers from last week pointed out: “When using a Compact Fluorescent Light indoors, it may be installed in an enclosed fixture unless it has instructions on the plastic base or package that states it is not to be used in enclosed fixtures”.

Please share this Coffee Break Training segment and others with your peers. Previous Coffee Breaks may be found at http://www.usfa.dhs.gov/nfa/coffee-break/
